In the framework of World Soil Day, celebrated this December 5, Alltech Crop Science and ideagro have announced the launch of #SOS—Safeguard Our Soilsa platform that seeks to raise awareness about the importance of soil health for agricultural sustainability and food security.

Soil health is essential for productive and sustainable agriculture, but the world's soils face increasing threats such as erosion, compaction and nutrient loss. These problems not only compromise food production, but also the biodiversity and ecosystems that sustain life on the planet. Regenerating and protecting the soil is an urgent task to ensure its fertility and the well-being of current and future generations.

#SOS—Safeguard Our Soils is a platform that offers content that combines science, research and good agricultural practices. The initiative highlights the suppressive soils, rich in beneficial microorganisms that strengthen crops, fight diseases naturally and reduce the need for chemical inputs.

«At Alltech Crop Science, we are experts in the soil health and we are committed to promoting suppressive soils through strategies that connect science with agriculture,” said Andy Thomas, CEO of ACS.

“These technologies help farmers adopt sustainable and profitable practices, improving crop quality and supporting ecosystems. Suppressive soils are not just a goal, they are a reality that we can achieve with the right tools and vision.”

For its part, Ideagro, a leader in applied research in fermentation, plays a crucial role in this initiative. “Microbiology is the basis for transforming soils into living and resilient ecosystems. At Ideagro, we research and apply biostimulant solutions based on microorganisms obtained through precision fermentation, to obtain a suppressive soil,” he explained. Pedro Palazón, CEO of Ideagro.

#SOS seeks to reach not only farmers, but also consumers and companies in the agri-food sector, promoting a common understanding of the importance of living and balanced soils.

“The way forward requires a collective effort. Farmers, researchers and industry leaders must work together to champion soil regeneration as a shared goal,” Thomas stressed. «#SOS—Safeguard Our Soils reflects our commitment to providing up-to-date information on soils, microbiomes, and fostering collaboration and innovation to create a more resilient agriculture for future generations.»

ANDWorld Soil Day is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the connection between healthy soils and a sustainable future. “By launching #SOS, we aim to foster an open and accessible dialogue for all, helping to build more resilient agricultural systems,” concluded Andy Thomas.
