IDEAGRO participates in the Micro N project – APPLICATION OF MICROORGANISMS FOR THE FIXATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL NITROGEN

He Micro N project tries to know the efficiency of the substitution of 30% of nitrogen fertilization in different crops. This reduction of the 30% will be provided by microorganisms autochthonous whose function, among others, is to fix environmental nitrogen that is used by plants naturally. In order to verify the effectiveness of this innovative strategy, the effects of said substitution on the production, quality and dynamics of representative crops in the Region of Murcia will be determined.

The general objective of the project is to increase the sustainability of the fruit and vegetable producing sector in the Region of Murcia, avoiding the production losses that a 30% reduction in nitrogen fertilization could entail.

It also seeks to anticipate solutions for the adaptation of the agri-food sector of the Region of Murcia to the new European public health requirements for the substitution of contributions of chemical origin, as established in Order 1 of 2018 of the Region of Murcia.

The objectives of this project are:

• Reduce the 30% of the contribution of nitrogenous fertilizers made by synthetic products.
• To determine the efficacy of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria in agricultural soils in the Region of Murcia as a contribution of nitrogen to the crop, substituting the contribution of synthesis products.
• Extrapolate the results obtained in the most important crop groups in the Region of Murcia.

Project members include companies such as Alltech Spain, gruventa and Agrocolin, being a project coordinated by the specialized consultancy Agromarketing Spain.
